Behind the Hard Hats: 1 Million Safe Hours at Atlas

We’re proud to celebrate a major milestone at our Atlas project in Arizona: 1 million hours worked safely.

That’s more than just a number. It represents a million moments of looking out for one another, doing the job right, and putting safety first every single day. It’s a million decisions rooted in care, accountability, and action with zero recordable incidents.

At Qcells, safety isn’t just a requirement. It’s a platform we stand on. Guided by our safety motto, “Practice Safety! Your Family is Counting On You!”, we are reminded that the work we do impacts more than just a project schedule. It impacts the people waiting for us at home.

“When is the last time you saw a company celebrate 1 million safety work manhours? 1 million safe work manhours isn’t something you see. The sheer effort it takes to achieve such a monumental milestone is a testament to the fact that our people live our safety motto. I couldn’t be more proud of the team and to be a part of an organization that puts safety in the forefront of what they do!”
Jerred Caskey, Director of Safety

This milestone is a direct reflection of our Safety Core Values in action:

  • Make the Call – Team members speak up when something doesn’t look right, sharing lessons learned and field observations so we can continuously improve together.
  • Follow Me – Never asking someone to take a risk they wouldn’t take themselves, stopping and showing how to do something safer, and always planning work with safety at the core.
  • Can We Be Safer? – Every task is approached with intention, asking whether the work can be done more safely and how risks can be reasonably reduced to the lowest level possible.

These principles aren’t words on a poster; they are behaviors lived out in the field every day.

To celebrate the achievement, more than 400 team members gathered onsite to mark the occasion. The event included remarks from Qcells EPC CEO Chris Hodrick, PE, CEM, along with mic’d-up moments that energized the crowd. Raffle prizes and food trucks added to the festivities, but the true highlight was the collective pride shared by the team.

This milestone belongs to every individual who showed up, spoke up, and committed to making safety a culture, not just a goal. Through this project and others like it, we’re demonstrating that excellence means protecting what matters most: our people.

Here’s to the team behind the hard hats, and to many more safety milestones ahead.
