WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Biden Administration’s U.S. Department of the Treasury finalized rules critical to bolstering the domestic solar manufacturing industry. The Inflation Reduction Act’s Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit, known as 45X, is intended to onshore the full solar supply chain and encourage manufacturers to build critical solar components that have not been made in the United States in decades. Finalizing 45X will bring much certainty to the industry with an ambition to manufacture clean energy in America.
Danny O’Brien, president of corporate affairs at Qcells, issued the following statement:
“Without a doubt, the Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit is incentivizing the emergence of the solar supply chain in the United States, including Qcells’ historic progress in building its solar mega-manufacturing facility in Cartersville, Georgia. The finalization of this tax credit is another critical step in the Biden Administration’s plan to reshore solar manufacturing in the U.S. and boost the country’s manufacturing capacity.”
