Send power to grid

Send your Power to the Grid

Once enrolled, a signal will automatically be sent to the inverter that controls your battery when energy is needed, either directly to the grid or to help power your home and reduce reliance on the grid. Your battery will be called between 30-60 times per year, with each event ranging between 2-3 hours. This will occur in the summer months between June – September between the hours of 3pm – 8pm. The program is auto-renewed each year.

You will be rewarded for allowing your Q.HOME CORE battery system to discharge energy when the grid needs it. The incentive amount will depend on the performance during events and varies by state and utility provider.

Your Q.HOME inverter serial number can be found in the Q.HOME APP/Portal or on the label of your inverter.

Program Incentives

Incentives for MA and RI are paid at the end of each year based on the average discharged AC power in kW during the events; Incentives for NH are paid upfront based on 80% of the kWh discharge capacity of your battery for NH once your utility confirms your battery is installed and online. Below is a detailed breakdown.

Utility State Annual Incentive to Homeowner
National Grid MA $275/kW-avg
Eversource MA $275/kW-avg
Eversource NH Upfront: $230/kWh capacity up to $3000 (One-time)
Rhode Island Energy RI $400/kW-avg

  • In New England, most power outages occur during the winter, whereas ConnectedSolutions events will be in the summer. Additionally, if the forecast calls for extreme weather, the utilities will not call a winter event, allowing ConnectedSolutions participants to keep fully-charged batteries in preparation for a possible outage event.
  • You could set up the minimum capacity (SOC) in Q.HOME APP/Portal anytime, and Qcells will not discharge when the capacity drops below the minimum SOC.

Yes, the incentive offered by the grid service program is additional and independent from the excess power credit under Net Energy Metering tariffs. Bill credits for exporting power to the grid will continue to be calculated and provided to you in the same manner after your enrollment.

You can opt out of an event in the Q.HOME APP/Portal. Please note that opting out will lower the overall event performance and the incentive amount you’ll receive.

You can withdraw from the program by sending an email with your name, address, email and inverter serial number to grid-service@qcells.com. Once unenrolled, you will no longer receive the incentives.
