WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Qcells, a global leader in complete clean energy solutions, announced Danny O’Brien will join the company as its executive vice president and head of U.S. corporate affairs. Mr. O’Brien, a longtime government affairs executive, comes to Qcells at a critical time for the company as it embarks on building the United States’ first fully integrated solar supply chain, grows its project development and engineering business, expands its rooftop solar solutions, and enacts partnerships with industry leaders, such as Microsoft.
“We are thrilled to welcome Danny to Qcells,” said Justin Lee, CEO of Qcells. “Danny is an exceptionally respected professional with decades of geopolitical and public policy experience. We look forward to benefitting from his leadership as we help lead the global energy transition.“ Qcells recently announced a $2.5 billion dollar manufacturing expansion in Georgia, the largest investment in U.S. solar industry history, as well as a multi-year 2.5-gigawatt supply and construction partnership with Microsoft. Mr. O’Brien will lead the Qcells’ policy, communications and sustainability teams as the company expands across the clean energy value chain in the United States.
“There is no industry more exciting or more important right now than clean energy, and Qcells is a leading player with a proven commitment to renewable energy in the U.S.,” said Danny O’Brien, Qcells new head of corporate affairs. “I am honored to join this company at a time when it is creating jobs and building a domestic supply chain that delivers clean energy solutions to communities across the country.“
Before joining Qcells, Mr. O’Brien held senior-level positions in the federal government as well as with leading U.S. corporations. Most recently, Mr. O’Brien was the executive vice president and head of government relations for Fox Corporation where he spearheaded the company’s legislative, regulatory, and strategic policy matters. Before that, Mr. O’Brien worked at GE Transportation advancing commercial and public policy issues in the global locomotives and aviation sectors. Mr. O’Brien previously had a long career in the public sector, serving as chief of staff to Senators Torricelli, Biden and Menendez. He served as staff director on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee covering foreign policy and national security matters. Mr. O’Brien’s experience also includes managing campaigns for statewide and national officials, including the role of political director for Joseph R. Biden’s 2008 presidential run. Mr. O’Brien has a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from the University of Redlands.
