Qcells Applauds Gov. Newsom’s Actions to Strengthen Californians’  Access to Affordable Energy

IRVINE, CA — October 1, 2026 — Today, Qcells commends Gov. Gavin Newsom for signing into law legislation that will lower Californians’ electricity bills and help ensure ratepayers reap the full benefits of existing clean energy resources across the state.

As energy cost and demand continue to rise, Qcells — the country’s largest residential solar manufacturer and a premier provider of end-to-end clean energy solutions — believes SB 913 and SB 905 will allow renewable energy to compete on a level playing field with traditional sources, all while saving customers money.

In response to the recent bill signings, Erin Kiel, Qcells’ Senior Director of State Policy and Government Relations, issued the following statement:

“We’re at a time when every electron counts. But in California, there are huge amounts of solar and battery systems connected to homes and businesses across the state that are not being utilized to their full potential.

We believe the bills Gov. Newsom signed into law put California on a path to make better use of existing, household-owned clean energy resources while avoiding unnecessary infrastructure projects that drive up costs for working families. These moves will lower costs and boost grid resilience, without increasing pollution. While there is still work to be done to expand access to affordable energy technology — including for renters — Gov. Newsom’s actions are a significant step in the right direction.”
