Qcells Statement of Support for State Rep. Carpenter, State Sen. Hufstetler Resolution Calling for US-Manufactured Solar to Support Georgia’s Energy Needs

ATLANTA – Today, Qcells supported Representative Kacy Carpenter (House District 4), and Senator Chuck Hufstetler’s (Senate District 52) resolution celebrating both Qcells’ investment in Georgia’s manufacturing sector and workforce as well as how its products and services can help quickly meet the state’s growing energy demands and lower electricity costs for communities.

“Georgia and leaders like Representative Carpenter and Senator Hufstetler made it possible for us to become a powerhouse in American manufacturing,” said Scott Moskowitz, Vice President of Industry Affairs at Qcells. “Their support is a big reason why our team of nearly 4,000 people are ready to quickly and affordably deliver American-made power to not only communities across Georgia, but across the country.”

Qcells opened its state-of-the-art factory in Dalton, Georgia in 2019 with 750 people producing 1.7 GW of residential, commercial, and utility scale solar panels. Since then, the company expanded its Dalton facility twice and grew the team to nearly 2,000 people manufacturing 5.1 GW of solar panels a year.

In 2023, Qcells announced plans to invest a historic $2.5 billion to build a flagship vertically integrated solar manufacturing facility in Cartersville, which will manufacture critical components – ingots, wafers, and cells. Cartersville’s 3.3 GW of solar module production began in April 2024, and by the end of the year, these two facilities will have a combined workforce of nearly 4,000 people building 8.4 GW of solar panels and their key components each year. Qcells’ total investment of $3 billion in Georgia’s manufacturing sector has helped create nearly 7,000 indirect jobs in Georgia.

“We are in the business of manufacturing and delivering the most cost-effective power systems in America,” says Moskowitz. “No energy technology can be deployed as quickly or at as low of cost as solar, and our Georgia manufacturing hub is the key to a global energy strategy to lower power prices and support new electricity demand.”
